As technology and healthcare infrastructure evolve, Origin Healthcare Solutions strives to deliver superior service and products to its current client base. With new initiatives bestowed upon us by the Federal Government, Origin at times must retire current technology in order to support a more robust and secure computing environment. CMS is currently in the process of implementing the next version of the HIPAA Transaction 835 standard – referred to as 835v5010. In order to be compliant with this next HIPAA standard by January 1, 2012, we must move to a new software platform to accommodate claim field changes and requirements. As we prepare for Meaningful Use and other reporting initiatives required by the Federal Government, we have begun to lean on the latest development tools available from Microsoft. This technology will support the security and transport requirements defined by current and future regulations. Also looming in the not-so-distant future is ICD-10 requirements. In order for our practices to meet these technological requirements, all clients will be required to upgrade. We ask that all clients schedule an installation as soon as possible.
Current product expiration.
We will pick a suitable time period for supporting the current product set, but keep in mind the time line will be dictated by the first Government required implementation date of 5010.
Has this happened in the past?
Origin has moved to several new platforms over the years. We do this in order to remain viable as an organization and to retain the best staff possible. The last time we did this was in the late 1990’s when Microsoft Windows became a popular platform. Due to Government regulations, we have now converted our RIS, AS, PM, EMR, Suspense, Collector and Mobile solutions to the new Microsoft .Net platform.
What’s in it for the practice? Everything!
Origin provides software solutions that encompass state of the art methodologies for patient and staff workflows, resource tracking, follow up, claims processing and collection efficiencies. In converting to this new platform, your office will still retain the software products you use every day, but now there are additional functions you may want to consider. Some of these options may help improve efficiencies within your office work flow.
