SSIMED Golf Tournament Raises $15,000 to Benefit CCMC

Windsor, CT, July 20, 2006 - SSIMED’s second annual charity golf event held in July surpassed the 2005 results and raised $15,000 to benefit Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC).

"We are honored that SSIMED provides such outstanding support for Connecticut Children's Medical Center through their annual golf tournament. As a not-for-profit organization, CCMC relies on this kind of charitable generosity to support our mission of service, education, research and advocacy to improve children's health." Tom Hanley, Director of Public Relations at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

With the support of over twenty sponsors and advertisers, this year’s tournament exceeded the expectations of the planning committee.  140 golfers were signed up to play.  The day started off with a buffet lunch, goodie bags for the golfers and then it was time to golf.  Over $2,000 worth of raffle tickets and mulligan shots were sold with the proceeds going directly to CCMC.

“Our thanks to the SSIMED staff who worked so hard to put together a wonderful event.  We attend our fair share of fund raising golf tournaments, so we very much appreciated being part of such a well run program in support of the CCMC.” said Mary deRenzy, President, deRenzy Document Solutions, Inc.

The winners for the best round were Ron Tyrell, Steve Stephanian, Dan Ahern, and Don Plouffe sponsored by Regan Technologies with a 57.

The best mixed round went to Eve Wickwire, Tom Hanley, Brien Beakey, and Glen Greenburg from CCMC with a 62.

“Once again, a great day for a great cause.  Webster Bank is proud to be a financial partner with SSIMED and proud to be a major supporter of this tournament that benefits Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.” Quoted Peter F. Samson, Vice President, Commercial Banking, Webster Bank National Association.

"I am grateful for the proceeds that will benefit CCMC programs and I am particularly pleased to have participated in this tournament for the second year," Dr. Paul Dworkin, Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the Physician-in-Chief at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, said. "This is the only golf tournament that I play in and cannot imagine one that is more enjoyable." "Thanks once again for so generously organizing the spectacular golf tournament in support of CCMC," Dworkin added.

Sponsors of the tournament include:  SSIMED, MEDCONN, Webster Bank, deRenzy Document Solutions, INET, NSI, Dimensional Insights, SE Capital, Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company, Vernick & Gopal, LLC, Alexem PC, ProHealth Physicians, Cohn, Birnbaum & Shea, CTC Communications, ENT Billing Associates, Flo-Tech, Integralis, Dill Joyce & Thresher/The Kernan Agency, Pilot House Communications, ADFORM Advertising.
