Elsevier Announces Clinical Decision Support Partnership with SSIMED, LLC

Partnership puts integrated evidence-based point of care content directly into electronic medical record to improve quality and consistency of decision-making

St. Louis, Missouri, USA, February 26, 2007 – Elsevier, the world’s largest medical publisher, today announced it has partnered with SSIMED, a leading EHR vendor and provider of physician software and services. The partnership will allow Elsevier’s clinical decision support content to be offered via SSIMED’s EMRge™ electronic health record application.

“With Clinical Decision Support from Elsevier we are able to deliver relevant clinical decision support content organized around the clinical workflow using patient information directly from SSIMED’s EMRge™,” says Frank Perrotta Jr., executive vice president and CIO of SSIMED. “Our valued customers can now seamlessly access the latest evidence-based clinical information and medical reference information from Elsevier, enabling them to provide better health care by promoting best clinical practices, improving consistency and quality of decision-making; and ultimately increasing the quality of care.”

SSIMED will provide two offerings from Elsevier’s Clinical Decision Support content. The first, integrated evidence-based point of care content, powered by FIRST Consult, is continuously updated to offer information on evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of disease categories to generate specific clinical decision support with the physician’s workflow. Secondly, SSIMED will offer the integrated medical referential content, powered by MD Consult, allows users to seamlessly search and access clinical information and included respected reference books, full-text articles from professional journals, practice guidelines and much more.
