SSIMED OFFICER APPOINTED
TO NATIONAL HEALTHCARE BILLING
COMITTEE

- May 4, 2004 - Sandy L. Marks, CPAT,
CPC, CCS-P, CHC, Compliance Officer/HIPAA Privacy
Officer for SSIMED Corporation was recently
appointed to serve on the Healthcare Billing
and Management Association (HBMA) Ethics and
Compliance Committee to assist in developing
it's Compliance Officer Certification criteria
and test.
Sandy was notified of the appointment to the
committee while attending HBMA's Spring Educational
Conference in San Francisco . One of the committee's
first orders of business will be the formation
of an HBMA Compliance Certification Program.
This program's aim is to promote continuing education
and offer a more comprehensive certification
program for Compliance Officers.
With over 16 years of healthcare and physician
billing experience, Sandy will provide a wealth
of knowledge and experience to the Ethics and
Compliance Committee. The group will establish
certification and testing criteria based on general
knowledge of compliance, total years of experience
and standard test knowledge of the Office of
the Inspector General (OIG) Compliance Guide.

HBMA is the only trade association that represents
third-party medical billers. HBMA members process
physician and other provider claims integral
to the health care delivery system. In addition
to billing for medical services, members frequently
perform all of a physician's administrative functions.
