SSIMED PROVIDES TIME MANAGEMENT HELP
FOR BUSY DOCS

Windsor, Conn., - April 19, 2004 - Physicians are under a serious time crunch like never before. Thanks to managed care, savvy patients, new government regulations, hospital rounds and the overall day-to-day stresses of running a successful practice, doctors can use all the time management support they can get. SSIMED provides that extra assistance with the launch of SSIMED 2Go. This PDA (personal digital assistant) application runs on most Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone Editions, allowing physicians to easily and accurately record their hospital or office encounters with just the tap of a stylus.

SSIMED 2Go literally allows the physician to cut ties to his/her office and work from anywhere - at least administratively. All that's needed is an Internet connection. Stopping at the office to drop off hospital rounds data becomes a thing of the past. Besides the extra freedom the unit provides, it also ensures accuracy.

Currently, most doctors face a logistical quagmire filling out lengthy forms commonly known as "superbills." Superbills list what procedures were performed during a visit. Oftentimes, a busy physician waits and fills out multiple super bills at once and then has someone on staff enter the information into a computer billing system, resulting in mistakes and incorrect diagnosis coding. This in turn, can lead to insurance reimbursement delays or denials, resulting in a refusal of payment.

"Industry reports suggest that "at least 30 percent of health care claims for payment are rejected annually," states Dan McMahon , President of SSIMED Corporation. "This is a significant amount of lost revenue for a small practice. Even more startling is that of those rejected claims, over half are rarely resubmitted for payment again."

The introduction of SSIMED 2Go looks to change all of that while improving and possibly even lengthening patient face time. After all, a doctor who isn't rushing may actually spend more than the current industry average of seven minutes with each patient. That's good news for patients who often feel rushed or intimidated to ask questions.

SSIMED 2Go works on a PDA, a small mobile hand-held device that provides computing and information storage and retrieval capabilities. Diagnostic and procedural information can be entered at the time of the visit in mere seconds so that it is both accurate and more efficient than originally writing all of the information out long hand. A physician can sync remotely or at the office for immediate transfer into their practice management application. There's no need to re-type or to fill out a superbill. The efficiencies are instantaneous and so is the accuracy.

SSIMED has made the device available to physicians and so far, those that have tried it love the ease and efficiency. "Because of the high volume of patients I see on my rounds, coding issues were commonplace. SSIMED 2Go has helped me reduce mistakes, while actually improving my reimbursements," says Stamford-based physician, Dr. Philip R. Corvo. "SSIMED 2Go allows me to spen d l ess time filling out paperwork, and more time with my patients."
